Why this comp
An Ogryn who soaks punishment and pulls pressure off the team, a Psyker who burns the chaff, a Veteran who deletes gunners and armour while shouting the way open, and a Zealot who fixes the moments that go wrong.
| Role | Build in one line | Main job |
|---|---|---|
| Ogryn | Bully Club, taunt | Take punishment, taunt to take pressure off the team |
| Psyker | Inferno staff, dome, duelling sword | Kill chaff and hordes, check behind, dome objectives and moves between chokepoints |
| Veteran | Duelling sword, plasma gun, krak grenades, shout | Kill gunners, krak the armour, shout nonstop, focus-target bosses |
| Zealot | Duelling sword, flamer, book | Fix the moments that go wrong with the book, flame mixed hordes |
DS here means the duelling sword. The Psyker, Veteran and Zealot all carry one, and all three do great boss damage with it. Add the Veteran’s focus target and the team melts monsters and captains fast.
Who handles what
- Hordes and chaff: the Psyker’s Inferno first, the Zealot’s flamer for mixed hordes with elites in them.
- Gunners and shooters: the Veteran’s plasma.
- Armour (Crushers, bulwarks, armoured elites): the Veteran’s krak grenades.
- Pressure on the team: the Ogryn’s taunt pulls enemies off whoever is struggling and on to the player who can take the hits.
- Pushing through: the Veteran’s shout, used constantly, clears the way and staggers whatever blocks the push.
- Objectives and moving between chokepoints: the Psyker’s dome.
- When it goes wrong: the Zealot’s book.
- Bosses: focus target from the Veteran, then three duelling swords.
- Behind the team: the Psyker checks that nothing is coming from the back.
How it lines up with the director
- Hordes come on a clock from rank 16, and Havoc hordes are dense. Two flame weapons (Inferno and flamer) handle crowds that cleave struggles with.
- Gunner and shooter lines are in almost every Havoc patrol. They shred toughness from range, which is why the Veteran’s first job is killing them.
- Each player has nine melee slots, and enemies weigh who to attack. The taunt moves that attention on to the Ogryn.
- There is no quiet phase from rank 30. Every push is through enemies, so a shout that clears the way is used every time it is up, not saved.
- Captains arrive every 120-240 m at rank 30+, and monster specials roll in on top. Fast boss kills matter more than in any other mode.
- Rush prevention and push-from-behind strikes hit the back of the team. Someone has to look, and the Psyker does.
Talent picks inside each build are up to the player. These pages describe the job, not a talent tree.
